It took some time but, finally, the first transmission of Caffeinated Frequencies is up and running! I decided to keep the speaking parts to a minimum because, firstly, nerves and coffee jitters made the task disagreeable, and secondly, because if I were you I’d want to hear less of my voice and more of the good tunes.
I thought the first two tracks would set the tone of the show nicely; a track from Lemon Jelly, which features a sample of a crazy cat named Peter Reveen (hypnotist / illusionist), followed up by a track from the Desert Sessions Vol. 9 & 10 which contains one of my favourite lyrics: “I ain’t here to break it – just see how far it will bend”. The whole series of Desert Sessions albums are very interesting and deserve a listen if you can find them.
The track from Curtis Mayfield can be found on his album Superfly. I took it from a compilation called Ghetto Life which features classic Blaxploitation songs from Gil Scott-Heron, Issac Hayes, Sly & and The Family Stone, Delfonics and on and on and on...
We finish the first transmission with Therapy? one of my favourite bands of all time – I can guarantee I will be playing alot more of their stuff in future shows.
Once again I’d like to thank my good friend Shocksy Clarke for his help. If you love your ears I strongly suggest that you check out the The Kiwi Fruit Radio Blog for some fantastic New Zealand music. Another blog I highly recommend you check out is The Daily Guru an epic catalogue of great music updated on a daily basis!
That’s about it from me, I plan to do the shows on a weekly basis and also add interesting coffee related articles here and there. Hope you enjoy it!
